I tried to teach Lauren about why we were celebrating Christmas in the first place, so we always referred to Christmas as Jesus' birthday. I told her that he shares his birthday with us and that she gets to open presents to help celebrate his birthday. But no birthday is complete without a birthday party-especially something that involves blowing out candles! So after dinner we sang Happy Birthday and let Lauren blow out a candle in a bowl of ice cream to celebrate.
