just doing what sister does...

While we were swimming yesterday, Lauren did something that got her on time out (I can't even remember what it was now!). She was so upset that she had to get out of the pool and then cried and whimpered that she was so cold (it was 95 degrees out!). Anyway, she was her normal dramatic self on time out for a couple minutes until she realized she wasn't getting off time out until she calmed down. So shortly after she got back in and started swimming again....

But then Colson gets out of the pool, walks over to where Lauren was on time out, sits down and starts fake crying/whimpering. Lauren and I looked over and I asked her, "Did Colson just put himself on time out?" and we started laughing so hard!!!

Today while we were swimming Colson did the same exact thing - but hadn't seen Lauren on time out today. For some reason he just thought it was time to go sit in that spot and "cry". so funny. He really does want to be just like Lauren!

water balloons

Lauren finally got her reward for her sticker chart...water balloons!

She was so excited at the idea of playing with them- she didn't realize that most people have water balloon fights and fill them up only to pop them!

Jason filled a bucket up and we threw them at each other this afternoon. Lauren and Colson enjoyed it a lot.  Colson was quite perplexed he threw them and they popped...then was equally as confused when they didn't pop! It was so fun to watch.

Lauren wanted to save a few to actually "play" with. She saved two larger ones and a small one she named Lucy. She carried these water balloons around all afternoon and even napped with Lucy (who told her not to fall asleep!). She even had Jason babysit them while we went to the gym.

She definitely has a maternal instinct...!

Weekly Chart July 1-7

So we definitely need to work on a few things... and Lauren is so inconsistent.

Friday was probably one of the best days we have had in a while, but today was one of the worst!!! I think Lauren spent at least an hour or more crying in her room today.

princess tea party

Lauren has spent a lot of time playing with her doll house lately...but instead of the dolls that fit in the house, she prefers to play with her princesses. They all attended a tea party tonight! She has very lengthy conversations while playing with her dolls...I just adore this age!

La-Las and Tigers

The last 20 minutes before bedtime Lauren gets to watch a cartoon show. Colson usually sees the first 5-7 minutes of it while he drinks his milk. Tonight Lauren had her nap mat out and laid one out for Colson also. Lauren cuddled up with her La-La and tiger and Colson kept trying to take them...so I got his "Bubba" out of his crib for him to cuddle and he found the tiger to snuggle also. So now they both have a tiger!

I just think it is so cute (and interesting) that they both love those darn blanket/animal head things!

He wants to be just like sister!

Where does daddy work?

Lauren told us today that she wants to work in a hotel when she grows up, just like daddy...hmmm... I guess she doesn't quite understand! We do tell her that "daddy has to go to work and stay at the hotel for a few days" so that is easy to see why she might think that. I told Jason that she probably tells people this when I am not around and they must think he is a night clerk at a Motel 6 or something... this got him a little riled up, so he sat down with Lauren and had a conversation that went like:  (I was in the kitchen listening- and trying so hard not to die laughing!)

J: Where does daddy work?
LF: At the hotel
J: No, daddy works for Mazda.
LF: Yeah, Mazda.

J: Where does daddy work?
LF: At the hotel
J: No, daddy works for Mazda.
LF: Yeah, Mazda.

(repeat for about 3 more times)

J: Where does daddy work?
LF: At the--uh...at Mazda!
J: Yeah! good job! So where does daddy work?
LF: At the--uh...at Mazda!

(repeat this for about 3 times)

J: Where does daddy work?
LF: At...MAZDA!
J: Yes! And what does Mazda make?
LF: houses!

(at this point I was laughing out loud! )

Things Lauren says...

Lauren says the cutest and funniest things these days...
  • Tonight when I was putting her blanket on her, she said her feet were "picking" out
  • She said she had her shoes (or whatever is lost and we are looking for) "I had it twice ago"
  • We tell Lauren that she has to eat her vegetables so she can grow up "big and strong". So one day recently she shouts, "Mom! Watch me eat my broccoli. I am going to grow big right now!" She thought it happened immediately. Then she asked if she was bigger. how adorable...
  • She says she is at the 100th potty or has 100 of things...?
  • Lauren tells us how she wants "this many" kids as she holds up her hand with all 5 fingers. She has talked about this a lot lately, telling me she will "need a lot of bottles because I will have a lot of babies."
  • She asks me all the time if she can wear my "married ring" when she gets married (to Prince Eric) in my "married dress".   "And mom, can I wear one of your necklaces?"
  • "And can you watch my babies for me when I get married?" wait, what?! So we had a nice little chat about how she would get married first and then have her babies!
  • She is very clear about relationships these days. When I tell her that her grandma will call us later, she says, "she isn't your grandma! Call her mom"
  • She is very aware that I have two babies and they are Lauren and Colson.
  • She told me that "Daddy calls you 'Erin' just like I call my boyfriend 'Aaron'" Uhh....
  • Another one of the things she isn't clear about yet is that we grow older (and don't get "little" again). She tells me that when she grows up and I am little that she will rock me to sleep and give me a bottle, "just like a little baby". She really talks a lot about everyone's size and how they grow.
  • And I think we have more than 2 imaginary parrots these days- (Rio who is blue, Stetson who is pink, Molly who is yellow with black stripes, Katie who is green and I think there is one more...) although thankfully I only have to take care of one each night...!

There are so many adorable things she says all day long - I just can't remember them all!!
