A Squealing Toddler, a New Splash Park and Sonic Happy Hour

Today I took Lauren to the new Splash Park in Colleyville. It was so much nicer and age appropriate for her than the one in Roanoke. There were only a handful of kids there, which was nice also. I had a wonderful afternoon- I think because Lauren had such a great time. It was so wonderful watching her squeal with excitement and actually interact and play with other kids- even though they were 4! She is really developing socially these days and it is so fun to watch!

Here is Lauren with no fear as the water squirts up

Trying to put her hand over the spout and block the water...

And getting a shot of water in the face. She blinks her eyes a few times, smiles and puts her face right back in... so funny!

Here is Carson, her little friend for the day. He was filling up his watering can and filling Lauren's bucket for her. She followed that little boy all over trying to get more water in her bucket!

Lauren playing with the big girls! She mimicked everything they did. If she jumped through a spout, she followed. When they turned the big wheel she went right behind them and did it also.

More water please!

Figuring out how Carson was getting his water and realizing she didn't need him, she could fill her own bucket. Lauren is learning this lesson early in life..! You don't NEED a man! You can do it yourself!

Where is the water?
Oh! There it is!

She was having the best time here. I hated to take her home...

And a little time out of the sun with a Sonic Slush... I swear I think the girl was in heaven!

She is so focused! :)

Afternoon Fun with the Dogs

Another quick picture of a bow...

And off it goes - record time...

Playing with the boys-

Throwing the ball for the dogs

One happy girl!

Daddy's Hat

Lauren loves to wear her daddy's hat. He wears it backwards when he is around her so he doesn't hit her in the face with the bill when they are playing...So she has to wear it backwards also- of course! She takes his hat and puts it on all by herself too...

And a couple pictures of her playing "Ba-" with the dogs...

Remote Baby

Lauren enjoying a few minutes of morning cartoons in her favorite chair...She thinks she is controlling the TV with her remote, but it doesn't work- it actually goes to our previous cable box, but it is so cute watching her push the buttons and point it at the TV. Lauren has also mastered getting on the couch by herself now. She is so happy that she can do this! She has been able to get off the couch on her own since she was about 10-11 months old, but getting on it is a bit trickier. She is getting to be such a big girl!

Father's Day Gift

I had Lauren take our Father's Day gift out to Jason this morning...

She stopped to check out what was inside the bag...

We convinced her to put the tissue back in...

and take it to Jason.

She had no interest in the gift (cologne) but loved all the filler paper in the gift box

Then she enjoyed playing with her new bag and box the rest of the day.

Happy Father's Day

A Day Out with Mom

Even though Lauren and I spend every day together, Saturdays that Jason works are different. We try to do something a little different and more fun than our typical routine. Today Cabela's was having a family fun day in honor of Father's Day tomorrow, so we went up there to see what was going on. They had turtle races, a fishing pool, booths set up where you could do different activities, and all kinds of promotional booths. The highlights of our trip were to
1) Watch the turtles
2) Get a balloon
3) Get Lauren's fingerprints and picture taken by the US Secret Service
4) Flirt with the Police Officer (Lauren, not me!) and get a sticker
5) Pet the dog from the radio show
6) Kiss the dog from the radio show
7) Hug the dog from the radio show
8) Cry when we have to leave the dog
9) Point at the fish in the aquarium tank and finally
10) Sit on every bench, seat and ledge she could find
11) Wave "bye-bye" to everyone including the elephant and moose...

I had to take a couple picture of Lauren in the stroller actually wearing her bow. They only last a few minutes...

Here she is watching the turtles "race"

Then we headed to Which Wich for some lunch. Lauren got her first kid's meal and ate it all! She had a whole grilled cheese sandwich and huge cup of milk. I didn't take any pictures in the restaurant with her little bag with her name on it - but I wanted to! She was still drinking out of her cup when we got home and carried it around like a prized possession until all the milk was gone!
