Lap Dog Syndrome...
I finally got a picture of Lauren trying to fit in the salad spinner. We think she has "Lap Dog Syndrome" where dogs (like Logan and Loudoun) think they are small and can fit in your lap. They have no sense of how big they are. I think Lauren is slowly figuring this out...Despite our doubt that she would fit in the salad spinner, she did!
See, I told you I would fit mom!
Here she is a few nights earlier trying to navigate the small space...

Dog Bones
Lauren loves to give the dogs treats. She found this bag on the kitchen floor and at one point had hidden behind it so well I could hardly see her. She was just sitting in the kitchen hugging the bag. When I came over to see her, she pointed at the bones through the clear plastic in the front. I guess she wanted to give the dogs treats. I am not sure how many she wanted to give them though! These are the moments I wish I knew what she was thinking...
Afternoon of S's
We had a few unplanned hours this afternoon so we stopped by Sonic for a drink and went to the park to check out the new swing set.

Having Sonic and Snack time on a park bench
Random boy at the playground who kept wanting to kiss Lauren...I think she has that effect on boys! She was instantly drawn to him and spent the next 10 minutes following him around and doing whatever he did.
Lauren driving her cars -
Time for the limes - She asks for these- I am not doing it to be mean or take pictures of her funny faces! She had 3 lime wedges and still wanted more...
Hi silly !
Loving her Sonic cup... I am not sure if it is because of the drink or the love of cups with straws
Multitasking at its finest - Walking and drinking.

Pillow Pet
Jason and I got Lauren a pillow pet. She loves it and took it to bed with her the first few nights. She has at least five stuffed animals in her crib with her already so with the frog there was hardly room for her! We still don't have a name for the frog yet, but it seems that this guy is going to be an important addition to the house, so he will need a name soon.

15 month check-up
Lauren had her 15 month check-up today. As always, the doctor is impressed with her. She did exactly what he asked and it was great when they ask the development questions...yes, yes, for months, always... He was not worried at all that she isn't saying many words- they are only looking for comprehension at 15 months and she clearly has that down! She babbles all day and has several words in her vocabulary. She knows how to sign and she is "obviously very smart" according to the doctor. She was all over the place climbing and was otherwise a great patient laughing and showing off...until the shots came! For the first time she was very, very upset. It took her a long time to calm down and that made me more upset...I did give her a dum-dum lollipop from the bowl at the check out. That made her happy- or at least it distracted her for a few minutes!
Lauren weight 22.2 pounds which is the 37th percentile for weight. She is 31.25 inches tall which is the 75th percentile for height. Her head circumference is 18.5 inches which is the 77th percentile. I guess due to the fact that her height and weight percentiles are so far apart the doctor made the comment that she needed to gain weight. I double checked and asked if he was sure. She has all these rolls still (which I absolutely adore!) and is far from starving or even skinny. He said, "shovel the food in"... huh?! She is a great little eater! Whatever. We are going to keep doing what we do - eating tons of fruit, vegetables, yogurt, protein and healthy foods- with the occasional ice cream or Sonic slush :) Lauren really is a great eater and eats such healthy foods. She has never eaten a french fry or chicken nugget- nor do I plan on introducing those foods anytime soon. She would rather have an orange than a cookie. She dips her french toast and waffles in yogurt and doesn't like syrup or jelly. Anyway, my point is that I am not going to change anything about how she eats and I surely won't be doing any shoveling...
The doctor didn't seem concerned with all her bruises after seeing her move around the the office...she is a bit clumsy, but she has no fear and bumps and bruises don't slow her down. He will check on it again at 18 months, but if it continues to be a problem we will do some testing to determine if she has a blood disorder or perhaps low iron levels. For now she is just a very happy toddler with a few bruises!

Corn on the Cob
It isn't that Lauren won't eat corn off the cob, but if she has the option...it is so much more fun to eat it ON the cob... I am not quite sure how much she is actually eating, but she loves to act like mom and dad and "eat" it on the cob. complete with the biggest smile you have ever seen...she is so proud!
